Cookie Policy
Effective date: 2026-05-13
This policy explains which cookies BookMySafari.ae sets, why we set them, and how you can switch them off. We keep the list short on purpose: we run no third-party advertising on this site.
1. What is a cookie
A cookie is a small text file a website stores on your browser. Cookies let a site remember preferences, keep you logged in, count visits, and similar small jobs. Some cookies are required for the site to work; others are optional and depend on your consent.
2. Cookies BookMySafari uses
Essential cookies (always on)
These cookies cannot be disabled because the booking flow stops working without them.
- bms_session: session cookie tying your enquiry form to the reply email.
- CSRF token: protects your form submissions from cross-site request forgery.
- bms_consent: records your cookie banner choices so we do not re-prompt you on every page.
Analytics cookies (off by default, opt-in)
We use Plausible Analytics, a privacy-friendly analytics product that does not perform cross-site tracking or browser fingerprinting. Your IP address is hashed and discarded within the session, and aggregated data is held on a 28-day rolling retention window. The analytics cookie is set only after you accept it in the cookie banner.
Performance cookies (off until you toggle)
- bms_dark_mode_pref: remembers your dark mode preference between visits.
- bms_lang_pref: remembers your language preference between visits.
Advertising cookies
None. BookMySafari does not run third-party ad tracking pixels, retargeting tags, or conversion trackers on this site.
3. Third-party services that may set cookies on consent
- Plausible Analytics: anonymous, opt-in. Off until you accept the analytics toggle.
- Cloudflare: security-only edge cookies that block bots and abusive traffic. No analytics or marketing use.
- WhatsApp deep-link redirector: when you click a wa.me CTA you leave our site and arrive at WhatsApp, which may set its own cookies under its own privacy policy. We have no control over WhatsApp's cookies.
4. The cookie banner
On your first visit the banner asks whether to enable analytics and performance cookies. You can accept all, reject all but essential, or open a granular toggle. Your choice is stored in the bms_consent cookie for 12 months. You can change your mind at any time by clicking the small Cookie Settings link in the footer.
5. How to opt out
Use the banner toggle to opt out of analytics and performance cookies. You can also clear cookies and block them altogether in your browser settings. Most browsers expose this in Settings, Privacy and Security, Cookies. Blocking essential cookies will break the booking flow.
6. Data retention
Essential cookies expire when your browser session ends, or after a maximum of 90 days for bms_consent. Analytics aggregates roll off after 28 days. Performance cookies persist for 12 months unless you clear them.
7. Children
BookMySafari does not knowingly collect cookie data from users under 16 years of age. If you believe a minor has used the site without parental supervision, please contact us and we will purge any associated session data.
8. UAE PDPL and GDPR cross-applicability
This site is operated from the UAE and is subject to UAE Federal Decree-Law 45/2021 on Personal Data Protection (PDPL). For visitors based in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom we also honour the equivalent rights under the GDPR and the UK GDPR, including the right to withdraw consent at any time.
9. Updates
This policy can be revised. The effective date at the top reflects the latest revision. Material changes trigger a fresh banner prompt so you can re-confirm your choices.
