Dubai desert safari in March, the last month of peak season
Where March sits in the safari season, and who it suits
March is the last month of the November-to-March peak season, a month of warm afternoons and evenings that cool once the sun has set. The typical temperature range, with its source, is in the weather section below.
For most travellers, March is a good month for a desert safari. The evening safari suits the bulk of March dates, with a sunset photo stop and a BBQ buffet dinner at a desert camp. Afternoons can reach the low 30s °C, though, so guests who struggle in the heat can take the morning safari instead.
Two kinds of trip need one extra step. Check how Ramadan evenings run before you book if your dates fall before 8 or 9 March, when Ramadan is expected to end. Confirm the date early if you are flying in for the UK Easter weekend at the end of the month.
This page goes deeper on March only. For the whole year, the guide to the best time of year for a Dubai desert safari covers every month. The month that follows has a page of its own: Dubai desert safari in April.
March weather in the desert, from warm afternoons to mild nights
Across the UAE, March maximums typically range from 27 to 32 °C and minimums from 16 to 19 °C, according to an Aletihad report of 2 March 2025 on a National Center of Meteorology (NCM) outlook. These are national figures from a press report, not readings taken in Dubai city or at a dune camp. The report gives them as typical values for the month.
The maximum covers the warmest hours of a typical March day. The minimum is the overnight low, in the coolest hours of the night. Two details change how the range feels on the dunes: sand in the afternoon sun feels hotter than the air reading suggests, and the air cools once the sun has set.
Fog can form in March. In the report's figures, March 2010 saw the highest frequency of fog, with 15 occasions and four misty days.
After a wet winter some desert plants are still in flower; wildflowers after winter rain lists the months.
For March desert weather on your own date, the NCM forecast at ncm.gov.ae is the better guide in the days before you travel.
Sunrise and sunset through March 2027
Sunsets in Dubai get later through March 2027 and sunrises get earlier. The table gives both for five dates across the month.
| Date (2027) | Sunrise | Sunset |
|---|---|---|
| 1 March | 6:42 AM | 6:21 PM |
| 10 March | 6:34 AM | 6:25 PM |
| 15 March | 6:29 AM | 6:28 PM |
| 20 March | 6:23 AM | 6:30 PM |
| 31 March | 6:12 AM | 6:35 PM |
Times are for Dubai city (25.20 N, 55.27 E) in Gulf Standard Time (UTC+4), as given by the NOAA Solar Calculator. The dunes around Lahbab, east of the city, see the sun set a minute or two earlier on the same calculation.
March sunsets run 6:21 to 6:35 PM. Sunset comes about 14 minutes later on the last day of the month than on the first, and sunrise about 30 minutes earlier.
Evening guests read the sunset column, because the evening safari includes a sunset photo stop. For morning guests the sunrise column matters more, since the morning safari is built around the sunrise dunes. Neither column is a pickup time, so ask the booking desk for the timings on your date.
Sunset across three stretches of March 2027. The temperature range covers the whole month. Sunset changes week by week, across three stretches.
- 1 to 12 March. Sunset comes between about 6:21 and 6:26 PM. Ramadan is expected to end on 8 or 9 March, with Eid al-Fitr expected on 9 or 10 March.
- 13 to 21 March. Mid-month, with sunset moving from about 6:27 to 6:30 PM.
- 22 to 31 March. Sunset comes latest, between about 6:31 and 6:35 PM. The UK Easter weekend falls in this stretch.
The darkest March 2027 evenings fall around the new moon on 8 March, and the full moon on 22 March lights the dunes after dark. Both matter most on the overnight safari, and the guide to stargazing in the Dubai desert has more on reading the night sky.
The end of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr in March 2027
On the UAE Astronomy Centre's projection, reported by Khaleej Times, Ramadan 2027 is expected to begin in the UAE on Monday 8 February 2027 and to end on 8 or 9 March. Eid al-Fitr is then expected on Tuesday 9 March, or on Wednesday 10 March if Ramadan runs 30 days. All three dates are subject to the UAE moon-sighting announcement.
The public holiday follows the same sighting. Eid al-Fitr begins on 1 Shawwal, the day after Ramadan ends. The UAE government portal sets the holiday at 1 to 3 Shawwal and adds the 30th day of Ramadan when the month runs to 30 days. The exact days off are known only after the announcement.
The 2026 dates show the drift. Eid al-Fitr 2026 fell on 20 March, after Ramadan ran from 18 February to 19 March 2026. Islamic dates move roughly 10 to 11 days earlier each year, so the 2027 dates fall earlier in March.
For how a desert evening runs during the holy month, see the Dubai desert safari during Ramadan guide. Holiday-week planning has its own page, on a desert safari during Eid. For a date after Eid, plan from the evening safari page.
Which safari suits a March date
The evening safari fits most March dates, and the morning safari suits guests who would rather skip the afternoon warmth.
The evening safari is a standard 6-hour package from AED 199 per adult. It includes hotel pickup, a 25-minute dune-bashing drive in the Lahbab or Al Awir red dunes and a sunset photo stop. At the desert camp there is a BBQ buffet dinner, with live performances that include the tanoura and a fire show.
The morning safari starts from AED 149 per adult and is built around the sunrise dunes. Other packages have their own pages. The overnight safari, from AED 399 per adult, adds a night in the desert. For a vehicle to yourselves, the private safari starts from AED 1,194 per vehicle. The VIP safari is priced from AED 595 per adult.
Start with the Ramadan guide if your date falls before Eid. The morning vs evening desert safari comparison sets the two main options side by side.
Travelling with children in March
Children under 4 ride free, ages 4 to 11 pay the child rate (AED 99 on the evening package), and the adult rate applies from age 12.
A child safety seat is used for children up to age 4, supplied free when you give the child's age at booking. The front seat is for passengers who are both at least 145 cm tall and 10 years old.
One weekend on the 2027 calendar matters for families. Good Friday (26 March) is a bank holiday across the UK, and Easter Monday (29 March) is one everywhere except Scotland. That puts the UK Easter weekend inside March in 2027. Confirm the safari date as soon as the flights for that weekend are booked.
The guide to a desert safari with kids goes age by age, and the page on a desert safari for families matches each package to an age group.

Sunset in Dubai across March 2027
Sunset comes about 14 minutes later on the last day of the month than on the first.
A light layer for March evenings
Bring a light layer for after sunset. Overnight lows across the UAE typically sit at 16 to 19 °C in March. Pair the layer with sun protection for the afternoon. On a windy day, when sand lifts off the dunes, a scarf helps too. The guide on what to wear on a Dubai desert safari covers clothing in more detail, and what to bring on a Dubai desert safari has the full list.
Booking ahead for March dates
Fix your Dubai desert safari in March once your flights are set. Confirm early if your dates fall around Eid al-Fitr, expected on 9 or 10 March, or the UK Easter weekend (26 to 29 March 2027).
The Eid holiday days follow the moon sighting, so the official announcement settles them.
Every booking on BookMySafari is confirmed on WhatsApp. Give each child's age when you send your March date, so the child rate and seat are set from the start.

Is March a good month for a desert safari in Dubai?
Yes, for most travellers. March closes the November-to-March peak season. Afternoons are warm. An Aletihad report of 2 March 2025 on a National Center of Meteorology (NCM) outlook puts typical UAE-wide maximums at 27 to 32 °C, so guests who dislike heat can choose the morning safari. Ramadan 2027 is expected to end on 8 or 9 March, subject to the UAE moon-sighting announcement; check the Ramadan guide if your date falls before then. -
What is the weather like for a Dubai desert safari in March?
Warm afternoons and mild nights. An Aletihad report of 2 March 2025 on a National Center of Meteorology (NCM) outlook gives typical UAE-wide March maximums of 27 to 32 °C and minimums of 16 to 19 °C. They are national figures, not dune readings. Sand in the afternoon sun feels hotter than the air. After sunset it cools, and a light layer is enough for the evening. For Dubai weather in March on a specific date, check the NCM forecast in the days before you travel. -
What time is sunset in Dubai in March?
In Dubai city, sunset moves from about 6:21 PM on 1 March to about 6:35 PM on 31 March 2027, according to the NOAA Solar Calculator. That is about 14 minutes later by the end of the month. The dune areas east of the city, around Lahbab, see it a minute or two earlier. Sunrise moves the other way, from about 6:42 AM to about 6:12 AM.
